Our Philosophy

Training should make life with your dog better — not just teach them commands.

Most people simply want to enjoy their dog: walk without being pulled down the street, greet people without jumping, come when called, and listen when it matters.

At Such A Good Dog, we focus on clear communication, realistic expectations, and rewarding the behaviors we want to see more of. We teach you how to read your dog's body language, understand the why behind their behavior, and communicate in a way your dog understands.

We believe dogs need more than treats — they need structure, boundaries, consistency, reinforcement and clear communication. Our goal isn't a dog who only performs in a training room. We want skills that carry over into real life— at home, on walks, around distractions and out in the world.

And because training isn't one-size-fits-all, we keep our classes small so we can get to know you and your dog, adjust when needed, and help you build a relationship that lasts long after class ends.

Why Professional Certification Matters

Experienced. Educated. Always Learning.

Dog training is an unregulated industry — which means anyone can call themselves a dog trainer. Professional certification provides an additional level of accountability and demonstrates a commitment to education, ethical standards and continued professional development.

At Such A Good Dog, our training team is built around those same standards. Our certified trainers hold the CPDT-KA credential, while other members of our team have trained under certified professionals and are actively working toward certification themselves.

  • Knowledge you can trust — certification requires demonstrated training knowledge and competency
  • Continuing education — learning doesn't stop after certification
  • Professional standards — certified trainers are held to an established code of ethics
  • Experience that matters — real-world training experience backed by education and professional development

Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question. Check out our reviews for what our students are saying.

Yes, our group classes are 100% owner participation training.  This lets your dog learn to respond to you and can be very important in establishing a trusting bond between you and your dog.  We do offer Board and Train as an option as well though too.

We like the least amount of equipment possible--generally a regular flat collar and 6' leash (with an occasional no-pull harness for those super pullers).  We want your dog to listen to you and not equipment.

Other than having professionally certified trainers, we focus on your relationship with your dog and emphasize body language (your dog's language) to communicate.
